Breed specifics of the Pavlov
The general impression of the Pavlov is of a lively, handsome rather small-sized breed with almost horizontal body, very high tail, full beard, breed-specific crest and feathered legs.
The birds are very intelligent, inquisitive, and very friendly. The feathered legs support them in the cold weather and they are very cold hardy and provided with a balance feed and free range they stay very healthy.Their advantage over breeds like the Poland is their crest. It is up off their face and eyes, and therefore they can see better which enables them to eat better, and not having feathers constantly in their eyes they suffer less from eye infections.
Talking to other lovers of this breed, we agree that they prefer to be free ranging, and enjoy hunting for their food. They dont do so well confined in small runs.
The hens crest tends to be more tight and upright, and the cockerels tend to be more spikey and flowing around the head.
